A Godly Mother

Passage: 2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14-17
Service Type:

“A Godly Mother”

2 Timothy 1:5; 3:14-17

2 Timothy 1:5

I am reminded of your sincere faith, which first lived in your grandmother Lois and in your mother Eunice and, I am persuaded, now lives in you also.

2 Timothy 3:14-17

14 But as for you, continue in what you have learned and have become convinced of, because you know those from whom you learned it, 15 and how from infancy you have known the Holy Scriptures, which are able to make you wise for salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. 16 All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, 17 so that the servant of God[a] may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.

They are Women Of Faith (2 Timothy 1:5)

Paul described Timothy’s faith heritage this way: “For I am mindful of the sincere faith within you, which first dwelt in your grandmother, Lois, and your mother, Eunice, and I am sure that it is in you as well”.

Timothy’s genuine faith was due to his godly upbringing and the influence of his grandmother and mother.

The faith and prayers of mothers can have a profound impact on the lives of their children.

They are Women Of The Word (2 Timothy 3:14-17)

Paul’s mention of those “from whom you have learned” probably refers to Timothy’s godly mother and grandmother, Eunice and Lois, who taught him the Word of God!

Godly mothers use the Word in their children’s lives.  Godly mothers must hide the word in their children’s hearts as well.

They are Women Of Influence (1:5; 3:14-17)

Lois and Eunice are examples of the powerful influence a mother or grandmother can have on a young man’s life.

Lois and Eunice should encourage all Christian mothers and grandmothers, reminding them that their godly influence has an eternal impact on the lives and futures of their children and grandchildren.
