Acts 2:42-47

 

⁴² And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers. 

 

⁴³ And awe came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were being done through the apostles. 

 

⁴⁴ And all who believed were together and had all things in common. 

 

⁴⁵ And they were selling their possessions and belongings and distributing the proceeds to all, as any had need. 

 

⁴⁶ And day by day, attending the temple together and breaking bread in their homes, they received their food with glad and generous hearts, 

 

⁴⁷ praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to their number day by day those who were being saved.

~Saving the lost and growing His church

 

Acts 6:7

⁷ And the word of God continued to increase, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests became obedient to the faith.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

2. REACHING UP IN PRAYER

 

Luke 11:1

¹ Now Jesus was praying in a certain place, and when He finished, one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray…”

 

A PRAYER OUTLING:

 

1. Confession of sin
2. Adoration of God
3. Thanksgiving unto God
4. Intercession for others
5. Supplication for my needs

 

1. Confession of sin

If I had cherished iniquity in my heart, the Lord would not have listened.  Psalm 66:18

 

2. Adoration of God

Through Him then let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that acknowledge His name.  Hebrews 13:15

 

3. Thanksgiving unto God

Enter His gates with thanksgiving, and His courts with praise!  Give thanks to him; bless His name!  Psalm 100:4

 

4. Intercession for others

¹⁸Praying at all times in the Spirit, with all prayer and supplication.  To that end, keep alert with all perseverance, making supplication for all the saints, ¹⁹ and also for me that words may be given to me in opening my mouth boldly to proclaim the mystery of the gospel…

Ephesians 6:18-19

 

5. Supplication for my needs

⁶ Give ear O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. ⁷ In the day of my trouble I call upon you, for you answer me.  Psalm 86:6-7

 

 

Take Away:

 

Stop worshiping your work, working at your play, and playing at your worship, and start sharing Jesus with and praying for those far from God.
